'Robot lost its way': what does it mean and how is it fixed?

What it means: the robot hit a wall, lost its navigation reference, or otherwise cannot continue. It reports the failure to the app and stops, blinking yellow.

Mid-game, the customer can keep playing by hand: they finish the move manually and the game continues, then fix the robot afterwards.

To fix it:

  1. Lift the chessboard off the base.
  2. Identify the affected robot: it is already blinking yellow, and the app shows the same instructions as onboarding.
  3. Move it clear of the other robots so they do not collide.
  4. Place it on a corner yellow mark and adjust until steady green.
  5. Mount the board. It auto-calibrates: wait for "Robots are ready to play".
  6. Abort the game and start a new one. See the caveat below. Caveat on step 6: resuming a game after a mid-game fix can currently behave oddly: e.g. the game resumes with only one robot active. The safest path today is a fresh game. A proper mid-game resume is coming in a future release.

This is a relatively rare event on well-set-up boards: in a full day of conference demos (8am–3pm) we had to fix robots twice.
