What surface does the board require? (Most common root cause of robot issues)

Check the surface in this order. This is the first thing to ask about on any robot-movement ticket:

  1. Is it hard and rigid? A table, a desk, a solid countertop. Never a pillow, sofa, bed or thick carpet.
  2. Is it level? A sloped or uneven surface makes the robot work against gravity and increases stalling.
  3. Is it big enough? At least 50 × 50 cm (~20 in) of solid surface.
  4. Is the board supported corner to corner? No part of it may hang over a table edge. Even a small unsupported corner lets the board flex, and that flex alone is enough to disrupt robot driving and piece dragging. This is in the printed quick-start guide and in the app onboarding, and it is still the single most common cause of "my robot is stuck / moving wrong" tickets. Side-by-side do / don't: board fully supported on a table vs. board overhanging a table edge with visible flex, plus a crossed-out board on a sofa cushion.
