What type of batteries are used in GoCube?
GoCube contains lithium polymer batteries. These are the most common batteries in nowadays rechargeable products, as they are small, but holds a large amount of power (high power density).
Why is my battery not holding a charge?
We wish batteries would last forever – unfortunately, its chemistry just doesn’t work that way. there are a few factors involved:
- Age: Over time all rechargeable batteries lose capacity, and eventually die
- Charging Cycles: Typical usage and recharging reduces the battery's capacity. Typical batteries have a ballpark of 300 recharging cycles, but the more you use it, the less capacity it holds (provides shorter playtime - you must have experienced that with your mobile, laptops, etc.)
I haven't used my GoCube for a long time. Why isn't it working?
Even when batteries are not being used, they self-discharge, and their lifetime performance degrades. Unfortunately, the battery may be damaged if the cell's voltage gets below a critical threshold.
Can I replace or repair the battery?
Unfortunately, there is no “quick fix” solution for a rechargeable battery after it went below a critical threshold. Not charging the cube for an extended period causes the battery to not receive a charge and the battery has to be changed and disposed of properly.
PLEASE NOTE! The proposed methods of "Defibrillating" the cube with direct high pulse injection is dangerous to the product and to yourself. Batteries can be dangerous. We do not recommend trying to open your GoCube to try and fix it, this will void your warranty. |
What do I do if my battery is dead?
We are making all efforts to give our customers the best support, even after the 1-year warranty. We can send you a refurbished cube that has been declared by our technicians good as new, for $39.95. This includes the cost of shipping the cube to you. Alternatively, there is an option to get a brand-new cube at a very significantly discounted price.
What’s the story with the 1st batch of GoCube?
The 1st batch of GoCube did have a very small (about 1%) of defective batteries (which couldn't hold a charge). These products could not be charged at all, and thus died soon after we sent them. In all these rare cases we immediately replaced it (free of charge) with anyone who approached us. As mentioned before, this problem was permanently fixed with the following batches.
As per some of the questions regarding new hardware in newer batches:
Please note that it is NOT a solution for any charging issues (simply as there is no such solution, except proper maintenance).
We do make continuous hardware changes, upgrades, and modifications to improve the products in different ways.
How can I extend the life of my battery?
To maintain your battery, it is highly recommended to charge them occasionally to keep it above "0%" even when not in use or in prolonged storage (due to its self-discharge). It's a common (required) practice for any rechargeable product, and this simple step will ensure that your battery lasts for long.
